The opinions I express here, or anywhere online, are not necessarily those of my employer, family, friends, or any other sentient life form. In fact, they probably aren’t necessary.
I like to use smileys. A lot.
By day I’m the Director of Interactive Media for an internet marketing and web/software development agency. I take a hands-on approach to web dev (my first tech-related passion), I’m a numbers based marketing aficionado, and I’m a professional Cat Herder. (It’s often said that managing programmers is like herding cats)
Between 10PM and 2AM I am very likely working on a tech-related project; anything from working on a mobile app, fine tuning PPC or SEO campaigns, building a WordPress plugin or theme, or even parsing through a ton of data to figure out how to eek a little more performance out of a landing page.
By 4AM I am sleepy.
In my spare time I’m an aspiring screenwriter, tech entrepreneur, and avid game enthusiast. (Board, computer, card, RPG, mind… it doesn’t matter to me, I just love games)
I’ve been actively blogging (on and off) since 2001 and I’ve been online since around 1992. (Prodigy, anyone?) I enjoy discussing the ever growing hold social media has on the internet, web development best practices, SEO & PPC (and how to monetize websites), how mobile devices are changing how we use the web and access media of all types, and tech-related information and insights in general. That’s not to say the occasional non-tech commentary won’t creep up every now and again, because I’m interested in a lot of different things.
I love hiking. I predominantly stick to the Olympic National Park since it’s just across the Hood Canal bridge from where I live. I believe a good hike isn’t about adding another mile to the days trip, but enjoying the places you walk past and seeing things the speedy hikers miss.
My favorite ice cream is pistachio almond. I prefer it on a sugar cone.
I love to shop, and I even like to shop for groceries!
I can usually see both sides of any argument, so I’m often (self-) appointed as Devil’s Advocate.
My favorite things to drink are water (I’ve always got a bottle of water with me), tea, and ice-cold Coca-Cola. And yes, I can taste the difference between Coke and the liquid abomination spawned from the depths of the abyss which some call Pepsi.
I am of the opinion that bacon should be in a food group all unto itself, because bacon is just that delicious.
My favorite color is black. No, it’s red. No, black. Damn.
I love to cook, but I hate to bake. I make lumpia that is so good you’ll very likely cry with joy.
I’m a fairly stereotypical Aries; but I do have a sensitive side too. That means if we’re watching “The English Patient” I might start crying when Ralph Fiennes walks out of the cave with Kristin Scott Thomas. And if you laugh at me for crying I could sock you. See… that’s how a sensitive Aries rolls.
I’m very funny. No, I will not make you laugh on cue. I said I was funny, not a trained monkey.
When I was little I was so skinny that you could see my heart beating in my chest. I am no longer that skinny.
I don’t mind cleaning the bathroom at home, but I hate to vacuum with a passion.
I love carnival food. There’s nothing like greasy food and spinning rides to make for an interesting evening.
My Top 5 favorite US cities (in no particular order) are Seattle WA, Boston MA, Las Vegas NV, San Francisco CA, and Annapolis MD.
In 2005 I discovered and subsequently fell in love with the Blues. Buddy Guy is an amazing blues guitarist, and you should see him play if you get the chance.
I am very musical by nature and I currently play the guitar and drums. I love the Fender Telecaster and DW drums. I’ll sing karaoke, too, but only if you do too.
