Today the latest addition to our family, Bryce, was born at 11:38AM via emergency cesarean section. Apparently Bryce not only turned himself upside down in the last few days, but his cord was wrapped around his neck… twice. Dr. B. gave 2 options:

  1. Have her get up in there and try to turn him around and unwrap the cord (a painful and not 100% guaranteed proposition), or
  2. Emergency cesarean section.

Weighing all of the pro’s and con’s of each, we decided upon the C-section. From there, the doctor took over like a General on a battlefield, and it was quite impressive. The one downside is that unfortunately the anesthetic didn’t quite kick in 100%, so Kimberly felt it. But all is well now.

Bryce weighted in at 9lb 2 oz and is as healthy as can be. Welcome to the world, Bryce! Here’s a few pix for the folks at home who haven’t met him yet.

Today was Bryce’s due date, but alas he never showed up. We go into the doctor tomorrow to see what the game plan is; I figure that she’ll have Kimberly induced sometime next week, but we’ll see what she says. I’m so excited!

Earlier today I was driving North on Highway 305 in the right hand lane when this idiot pulls up quick behind me: flashing his lights, beeping his horn, etc. At first I thought it was a friend trying to be funny, but I look back in my rear view mirror and it’s some fool waving his hands around like he wants me to get out of his way.

So what do I do? Nothing. This guy has had ample opportunity to get into the passing lane and getting around me like a normal person but instead he decides he needs to act like a fool on the road. I don’t play those games. I just kept to my normal 60MPH and went about my business.

This, of course, infuriates him for some reason (hehe). In the mean time there’s no one for about a mile in front or behind us in the passing lane and he’s getting all whipped up into a frenzy when he can easily get into the appropriate lane to pass instead of making me move. I can only imagine the tapestry of obscenities this guy was weaving.

After several minutes of revving his engine and riding the ass-end of my car and then easing off he finally gets the hint that I’m not moving and swerves past me, flipping the bird, and being an all-around asshole. I tried not to get too cranky, but I’m and Aries, and we get cranky sometimes.

And wouldn’t you know it… there is justice after all. After a few minutes I see him pulled over onto the side of the road with a state patrol vehicle behind him; lights flaring and everything.

And then I wasn’t cranky anymore.

Tonight while picking up our To Go order from Bahn Thai (an excellent local restaurant) I witnessed a man and woman first becoming “boyfriend and girlfriend”. I know this because I was eavesdropping… it’s what I do.

It’s funny because they were laughing when they were officially calling each other themselves each others boy and/or girlfriend, they were taking pictures of each other with their cell phones so they’d see their respective faces when calling each other, etc. It reminded me of all the giddiness that goes with starting a new relationship.

We all went to the doctor again today. Kimberly’s BP was 140/90, but her doctor didn’t want any extra monitoring or anything, which made me a little cranky. We’ve been running back and forth between the hospital and her clinic a lot lately because of the blood pressure issue in the first place; but she is the doctor, and a really good one at that.

She just told us to have her BP checked this weekend and see her again on Monday if there’s no problems. Oh, and Bryce’s due date is this coming Sunday.

Kimberly’s BP spiked up again, right after her NST test, so it was back up to the hospital for about 3 hours of monitoring. Of course I had to leave after the NST when I get the call on my cell phone that I need to head back to Silverdale and meet her at the clinic. Luckily her BP settled down and all was good!
