So we had about 35-40 total kids who came to our door for Halloween. And we still have about a bag and a half of candy left. But here’s my biggest gripe of the night: kids these days have zero imagination! I’d say at least half of them were dressed up as the killer from “Scream“, and that’s so 1996.

I’d say that there were about a half dozen kids who weren’t even really dressed up at all. Only a handful of them had any interesting and/or notable costumes. The interesting thing was that of all the parents who came along with the kids (which there were plenty, thank goodness); over half of them were dressed up in some sort of costume. In fact, some of the parents had better costumes than the kids. I remember spending days, sometimes weeks, getting ready for Halloween. Was I the only one?

Happy Halloween! Check out our pumpkin:

We’re calling him “Jimmy”… it’s sort of an inside joke. Maybe I’ll let you in on it one day; but it’s not very “PC” for those of you who subscribe to that drivel. Anyhow; since this is our first Halloween in our new house we’re not sure how many trick-or-treaters we’ll get, or even if we’ll get any at all. Our neighbors have some church thing they go to, so they weren’t able to tell us either so if we don’t get any we have about 6 or 8 bags of candy that we can gorge ourselves on. All I can say is be safe when you go out, and make sure that all children have a responsible adult with them. Also make sure to have flashlights, etc. Sheesh; I sound like a dad already!

We thought we’d be having the baby today, but so far no… although I did leave work early because Kimberly is currently having some stronger contractions how. She isn’t making the cranky face the nurses and doctors told me about (as an indication of when to bring her in), so we are holding out now. This morning we had to go and get her BP taken again to see what’s up, and even though it was a little higher than the last visit, the nurse and the on-call Dr. (ours in in the OR all day today) said we should wait until they get the rest of the lab work back (tomorrow AM) before saying to induce Kimberly. It’s frustrating, exciting, tiring, and confusing all at once.

For Kimberly it’s good that we aren’t (as far as we know so far) having Evan today because of the whole Halloween thing. But then again, my friend Shawrk brought up that if we have him tomorrow then he’ll have the same birthday as when the zombies from “Night of the Living Dead” attacked. I, however, from the beginning, bet that Evan would be born on the 2nd, so that’s what I’m rooting for. You see, I’m an Aries, so I like to win.

We had our weekly Dr. appointment today and it looks like the Dr. wants Kimberly to take it easy since her blood pressure has been consistently elevated for the last few visits. She’s asked Kimberly to take off of work early and to take it easy for the next week or so. She has to go into the office again on Wednesday to get her blood pressure checked again.

If the Dr. doesn’t like how that goes, she might induce Kimberly and little Evan could be here sooner than his due date of Nov. 9th. Of course, Kimberly doesn’t want Evan to be born on Wednesday, since that’s Halloween. I would think that a little boy would think that is cool; all of his birthday parties could be costume parties as well!

So this morning we went to the Dr. again for Kimberly’s weekly checkup. Everything was good for momma and baby. Kimberly had slightly elevated blood pressure, but the Dr. said that was normal. I really like her doctor… she’s so nice, so informative, and very open to whatever questions we have.

Kimberly was off from work for the past few days because of some back pains/spasms, which again the Dr. said was not out of the norm. She gave Kimberly a prescription for something to help with it, and it’s doing OK so far for her. She’s also is having Kimberly switch to 5 hour days versus 8; this way her body doesn’t get too much stress all at once. Apparently 5 hours vs. 8 hours makes all the difference.

Today we had another appointment with Kimberly’s OB/GYN. It was kinda funny because the Doctor had an intern with her and whenever she asked him a question he didn’t know the answer. Which, I guess, isn’t so much “haha” funny as it is “hmmm” funny, especially if he ends up being an actual doctor. Anyhow, since we only have about 3-4 weeks before the “scheduled” due date (ha ha ha) we have to go to the Dr. weekly now.

Spent the whole weekend getting stuff ready for Evan’s arrival. So far we have the stroller, 2 car seats (1 for each car), etc. The only thing we really have left to get is the crib, and hopefully we will get/order it this week. On Sunday we had the 3rd (and final) baby shower at home with Kimberly’s parents and some of her friends from school. We got more clothes… the boy is going to outgrow the clothes before he can wear them all.
